Kendall George and Wilda Mae (Graves) Johnson lived their entire lives on the border between Iowa and Missouri. Wilda Mae was born in Missouri in 1917 and moved across the border into Iowa with her parents when she was a child. There, in a one room schoolhouse, she met her future husband, one Kendall George Johnson.
Kendall used to remark that at first impression, he thought Wilda Mae and her brother JD were the "queerest lookin' kids he ever saw". Their marriage began in 1939 and lasted nearly 65 years. Kendall died in 2004 just two months short of their 65th Wedding Anniversary.
In that time, they raised eight children, saw the birth of 28 grandchildren and 30 some odd great grandchildren. Recently, great grandchild number fifty was born.
A farm family, they were close and the family remains close to this day, keeping in touch with email and an annual camping trip reunion.
